The news from PD Towers this month
Private Drama held another of its legendary showcase events at Banqueting House with event partners Rhubarb, White Light and Delta SoundThis year, as befits its unique combination of theatrical creativity and flair, Private Drama wowed 350 guests with a plethora of brand new entertainers, who all performed as part of an hour long show directed by Adam Blackwood, staged against the backdrop of the prestigious and historic setting of Banqueting House.
As guests enjoyed cocktails and canapes in the UnderCroft, the award winning close up magician Etienne Pradier charmed guests with his dexterity and twinkle until a staged Keystone Cop police raid diverted all the guests upstairs.
Once all the guests were seated, the entertainment commenced with a bright spotlight cutting through the dimmed lights, drawing attention to a glamorous solo violinist who glided up the aisle through the hushed audience, and joined further beautifully dressed musicians on stage as they accompanied the soaring voice of Jo Appleby, the stunning soprano singer from Amici Forever; her performance was followed by the powerful vocals of Brenda Edwards, originally of X Factor fame and now a successful solo performer, and finally the angelic vocals and nostalgia-inspiring harmonies of the Langley Sisters filled the room. The rest of the show offered comedy, in the form of an opera pastiche, an excerpt from a revue, and the amazing Craig Reed, hula boy, whose homage to Elvis drew much hilarity from the crowd. The guests were then treated to two of Private Drama’s most handsome international circus performers – a superstar juggler from Germany and the phenomenal strength and serene balance of the Guinness World Record holder for human flag. The finale of the show comprised a medley of performers direct from the West End stage - Chicago, Jersey Boys and to the delight of the audience, the cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert!
Guests later enjoyed dessert canapes served by the sophisticated and stylish Bolli Darling canape tray artistes and the party atmosphere created by the salsa band Grupo Malanga
