Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn plays a starring role in new Great British Menu Special

A new BBC1 version of Great British Menu to be aired this August aims to test the culinary ingenuity of several well known and reputable chefs in a very unusual way.    The programme will explore one of the most important food issues facing us today: the astonishing amount of food that is wasted every day by consumers and businesses.

Households, wholesalers, farms, restaurants, takeaways, and retailers are thought to waste up to 20 million tonnes of food every year in the UK. It’s a huge problem, but one that could easily be solved if we reduced the amount of food we throw away as a society, and shop and cook more carefully as individuals.

The nation’s top chefs aim to create mouth-watering dishes out of perfectly edible food that would otherwise have been thrown away. Their recipes will be judged by a panel of our favourite judges and the best will be served at a banquet of specially-invited guests.

And guess where the location of the banquet is? The Great Hall at The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn of course!

Tune in to BBC1 on Wednesday 25 August at 8.30pm and watch as the drama unfolds against the grand backdrop of the Great Hall.
