Francis Bacon at Tate Britain

21/08/08

Francis Bacon was one of the greatest painters of the twentieth century and this unmissable exhibition will bring together the best and most important paintings from throughout his turbulent life from 11 September 2008 - 4 January 2009.

Bacon is world famous for his twisted images of people and animals, often splattered with paint, displaying raw emotion and considered to be some of the most powerful images in art. The human body is a recurring theme in Francis Bacon's work and these paintings will be displayed just as they were when they were first made, with many other paintings of animals and visceral landscapes. Exhibition highlights include his infamous portraits of Pope Innocent X and celebrated triptychs such as Three Studies for a Crucifixion, 1962.

Private views of the exhibition can be enjoyed alongside corporate entertaining in the dramatic Sackler Octagon, a magnificent architectural space in the heart of the sculpture galleries of the North and South Duveens, accommodating receptions for up to 300 or dinners for up to 120 guests. Contact 020 7887 8689, corporatehospitality@tate.org.uk
