Romeo and Juliet at Middle Temple
24/07/08
2008 sees Middle Temple celebrate 400 years since King James I granted letters patent to the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. As part of the year long festival celebrating this anniversary Romeo and Juliet will be staged in Middle Temple Hall from 20 August 2008 to 13 September 2008. There has always been a powerful connection between Shakespeare and the Temple. It was Middle Temple Hall, one of the finest Elizabethan Halls in the country that hosted the first recorded performance of Twelfth Night in 1602. Now that connection is celebrated with Romeo and Juliet, one of his most thrilling and passionate plays performed by Theatre of Memory. The role of Juliet will be played by Juliet Rylance. The production is directed by Tamara Harvey and designed by Olivier Award winning designer Jenny Tirimani and will be composed by the award winning Claire van Kampen.
