The Terrace Rooms at Somerset House
18/11/08
Somerset House is delighted to announce the opening of our newest temporary exhibition space - the Terrace Rooms. A series of three modern rooms located on the ground floor of this Grade I listed architectural gem, the Terrace Rooms within Somerset House will feature original and exciting exhibitions on a rotating basis.
Recently renovated to highlight the stunning features of the rooms, such as the detailed hardwood floors and the original 18 century windows, the Terrace Rooms are a bright and airy space that can be used for various entertaining purposes.
Currently the setting for ‘Greater London: Richard Bryant's Photographic Celebration of a City', this space offers a serene and novel setting for a variety of different events.
Until the 9 March 2009, leading architectural photographer Richard Bryant presents his personal account of London. The exhibition will trace a journey across the city; picking out views, open spaces and closely observed architectural detail.
The exhibition includes images of structures by the world's most famous architects as well as little known views of London that force the viewer to reassess what they thought they knew about the city. Richard Bryant's project repeatedly sets new against old and the historic architecture of Somerset House will add another layer of context to this collection.
Available for private hire, the Terrace Rooms can be used as separate venue for intimate breakfasts, drinks receptions (maximum 100), and seated dinners (maximum 30), or alongside one of our other versatile venues at Somerset House.
