GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES AT UNIQUE VENUES OF LONDON
With membership effective from January 2010 the Roundhouse, Royal Festival Hall and Laban will sit alongside other prestigious venues including Tower Bridge, St Paul's Cathedral and the Royal Albert Hall.
Each of the venues has successfully undergone a strict membership process, ensuring that UVL remains at the forefront of unusual venues in the capital.
Lisa Hatswell Chairman of UVL and Sales and Corporate Events Manager at The Merlin Entertainments London Eye comments: "We are delighted to welcome these three new venues to UVL. They each reflect our dedication to exceptional London venues and complement the depth and diversity already offered by UVL".
"It is always exciting to be able to provide event bookers and buyers an additional venue type and product offering, and we fully anticipate great interest in The Roundhouse, Royal Festival Hall and Laban" Lisa added.
About the new members:
The Roundhouse is one of London's leading performing arts venues and, as a charity it helps thousands of young people every year. With a range of spaces it's also a flexible and inspiring venue for launches, receptions, meetings, award ceremonies and gala dinners.
Following a £30million refurbishment, the doors of this magnificent Grade II listed building reopened in 2006. Since then, more than half a million people have been to music, theatre, dance and circus events and 15,000 11-25 year olds have developed their talents in the Studios.
Caroline Huffelmann, Head of Events at the Roundhouse comments: "We are delighted to have joined one of the leading collections of venues in London and to be represented alongside the city's most prestigious events spaces. With our ability to host large scale events and dinners as well as our unique facilities in the Roundhouse Studios, we bring something different to UVL".
Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre
At the heart of one of the world's leading arts centres is the Royal Festival Hall which was built for the Festival of Britain in 1951. The first post-war building to receive Grade I listed status in 1988, the Hall reopened in June 2007 after a major two year multi-million pound refurbishment.
The Royal Festival Hall, with its riverside location, offers a variety of events spaces which can be combined with one of the venue's may performances of classical and contemporary music, ballet, contemporary dance, jazz and much more.
Froniga Creissen, Head of Development Events comments: "As a well known concert venue, becoming a member of UVL will help us to promote our excellent facilities for corporate hire. We look forward to networking with other unique London venues, to sharing best practice and to taking advantage of wider marketing opportunities which UVL provides, especially representation at trade shows".
Laban
Ultra modern Laban is a world renowned centre of contemporary dance located a short walk from Maritime Greenwich in South East London. Designed by Herzog and de Meuron, architects of the Tate Modern and Beijing National Stadium or "Bird's Nest", contemporary events spaces include a 300 seat theatre and 12 studios offering modern, creative settings for inspired events. The contemporary foyer space is ideal for receptions, while the landscaped grounds offer a stunning setting for outdoor functions.
Corporate clients are drawn to the RIBA Stirling Prize winning building for its inspirational spaces and the creativity of its art form. With its expertise in dance, Laban offers corporate clients the opportunity to experience bespoke dance performances as part of their event.
Samantha Lacey, Head of Corporate Events comments: "Laban truly is a unique venue and we're very excited to become a member of UVL. Being part of such an exclusive group will enhance our reputation as a venue for corporate events. The marketing opportunities provided by UVL are excellent and will help to increase our exposure within the industry. It's great to become part of a community with a common goal - opportunities to share knowledge with other member venues will be very valuable".
