About the role

Hayford & Rhodes are creating a new role, the ‘New Business Development Manager’. This will be a senior sales position within Hayford & Rhodes. It will be the New Business Development Manager’s job to support the Managing Director and Brand Director in devising and implementing the company’s sales, product and client retention strategies and to work with the sales and marketing teams to increase business opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for Hayford & Rhodes. To achieve this, they will oversee the new CRM System (Hubspot implemented 2018) and manage long-term organisational strategic goals, building on our high key customer relationships and identifying new business opportunities (tender processes for venues & hotels). They will need to maintain extensive knowledge of the current market in the Events, Venues, Corporate, Catering, Production and Luxury Brand sectors.

The Role will include finding potential new customers, present to them, maximise opportunities and ultimately convert them into clients, thus growing business for the future of Hayford & Rhodes. The New Business Development Manager will be a positive ambassador of The Hayford & Rhodes brand.

New Business Development Manager

  • Have a good understanding of the Hayford & Rhodes brand and to be passionate about all areas of the business
  • Generate new sales and pushing all opportunities both in the private and corporate sector
  • Oversee existing clients, venues, suppliers and building on these relationships
  • Maintaining existing clients and resolve any difficult clients/ issues when required
  • Working closely with the managers to target new areas of business growth and build new relationships and understanding key client’s requirements
  • Develop the highest proposals, plan presentations and tenders
  • Recording all clients, venues & suppliers (caterers & production) information on the CRM system
  • Work closely with the PR & Marketing of the business
  • Networking within and outside of standard working hours
  • Achieving targets put in place by the Managing Director

Business Development Planning

  • Attend industry functions, tender reviews, and provide feedback on market and creative trends
  • Identify opportunities for Hayford & Rhodes increasing lead opportunities and increase sales
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling points and differentiators
  • Leading networking, showcasing and PR events promoting the Hayford & Rhodes brand

Management and Research

  • Submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate and to review sales lost and lead times and suggesting positive improvements to the team. 
  • Ensure data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM system
  • With the Managing Director forecast sales targets and ensure they are realistically met
  • Working with the managers and the marketing team to ensure that Hayford & Rhodes submit all tenders and quotes on time and are fulfilled within a timely manner
  • Present business development training and mentoring the team
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the Hayford & Rhodes client base and the company’s capabilities
  • Understand the company’s goals and inspirations to enhance the company’s performance

Key Skills

  • Highly experienced knowledge on the Industry (events, weddings, planners, corporates, luxury brands, hotels, caterers, production and competitors)
  • Overseeing challenges in our market
  • Excellent time management, making and delegating work and multi-tasking
  • A keen eye for detail and current floristry trends
  • Identification of customer needs and patterns of client spending
  • Able to delegate work and clearly instruct team
  • A positive attitude and ability to motivate the team
  • Networking and presentation speaking
  • Monitoring closely activity on social media
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
  • Support other areas of the business when required

Hours, Overtime & Holiday

Hayford & Rhodes will remain flexible on hours worked, to get the right person for this role. Ideally the role will be a 4/5 day week). The business sales predominantly take place around the academic year and will remain flexible if additional holiday needs to take place around school holidays. Hours can be discussed further, in the interview. Hours agreed will be written into a contract.

Salary: Competitive with bonus
