Sales and Events Executive - Broadwick Live

Reports into: Head of Sales and Events

Salary: Dependent on experience

Broadwick Live is a multifaceted international company with headquarters in London who create, develop, own and operate a diverse portfolio of venues, spaces, events and experiences.

We believe in redefining spaces and how people experience music, art, culture and recreation by breaking down the traditional barriers. Our history and heritage is deeply rooted in music, building a portfolio of 20 global festivals before selling the portfolio in 2019 to focus on our growing portfolio of venues that includes Printworks London, Depot Mayfield Manchester, The Beams, Landing Forty Two, Exhibition London, The Pumping House and Magazine London.

Collectively we strive to push boundaries and disrupt the cultural landscape by combining big thinking, bold ideas and commercial intelligence to produce spaces and experiences for discerning audiences in inspiring locations.

Located in the heart of Greenwich, Magazine London opened in September 2019 and is a new large-scale event space for the capital. This purpose-built space offers a striking blank canvas for culture and commerce, and is a unique opportunity for brands and businesses to interact with global and local audiences. The venue boasts a capacity of up to 3,000 people internally and up to a further 7,000 people across the venue’s outdoor Showground.

What we’re looking for:

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious individual to join our team. Built from the ground up, Magazine London hosts a diverse range of events from large scale corporate events, brand launches and music shows to consumer exhibitions, festivals, award dinners and filming.

We are looking for a Sales and Events Executive superstar to join our busy team. You will have previous venue sales experience, an understanding of event operations, and the ability to confidently liaise with a range of clients face to face and over the phone. Day to day you will deal with enquiries, send successful proposals and account manage, with the aim of converting clients to a signed contract. You will have bundles of enthusiasm, a head for multi-tasking and be able to work under pressure. Strong attention to detail and accurate event administration skills are essential.

Our team:

Magazine London is made up of a team of incredibly passionate, creative and hardworking individuals, with a combined 45+ years in the events industry. The Sales and Operations teams work seamlessly together, creating industry-leading events and unforgettable experiences for our clients.

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Responding to day to day enquiries for Magazine London, taking telephone and email enquiries, sending information to clients in a timely manner as required.
  • Raising contracts and invoices using our bespoke events management system – Eventworks.
  • Carrying out successful site visits with clients, showing them the venue and explaining the space and options for various types of events. You will have a good understanding of event operations, as well as catering and production options.
  • Using sales skills to convert enquiries to bookings to ensure the venue meets its proposed monthly targets.
  • Managing and building relationships with clients including Events Agents / Venue Finders, ensuring they have all relevant information needed to sell Magazine London and ensuring each encounter is followed up appropriately.
  • Efficient diary management, ensuring events are kept updated as the enquiry moves through different stages to contract.
  • Ensuring data entry into Event Works is correct to allow for accurate reporting.
  • Working alongside the venue’s partner suppliers across production and catering.
  • Ensuring all events are invoiced when required, from deposit through to balance and commission invoices, including chasing of late invoices. Ensuring the reconciliation of events is completed in a timely manner.
  • Referring business that cannot be accommodated at Magazine London to the company portfolio of venues, Spaces & Stories.
  • Using proactive sales techniques and initiatives to generate new business.
  • Attending networking, exhibitions and other promotional activities as and when required to actively promote Magazine London and Broadwick Venues.
  • Giving feedback and helping assist with the development of everyday business processes and operations.
  • Meeting and greeting clients on event days.
  • Venue management as and when required. Ad hoc work, as it arises.

You’ll need to have:

  • 1-2 years of experience working within an event sales team or similar.
  • Experience of working within and knowledge of, the events industry.
  • Previous experience of selling profitably, maximising sales and achieving targets.
  • A passion for venues and events.
  • Working knowledge of the London venue market and key venue finding agents.
  • A head for multi–tasking to manage various events and the nuances of each client’s requirements as the diary dictates.
  • The ability and initiative to work with clients to ensure their needs are being met, and to secure bookings for the venue.
  • The ability to work to short turnaround times.
  • The ability to work with clients on all levels, including demanding and complex clients.
  • Prioritisation and time management skills.
  • The ability to stay calm and focused under pressure.
  • Superb communication skills – verbal and written, with an excellent telephone manner, and strong client-facing skills.
  • Endless positivity, and a proactive approach to your work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages to include Word and Excel.
  • Proficient in the use of Mac computers.

  • Knowledge of Film and TV industries.
  • Experience working on Film shoots.
  • Key contacts in the Film and TV industries.
  • An understanding of Marketing strategy and creating Marketing plans.
