As a charity it is dedicated to maintaining the Grade 1 listed building and to giving access to all, through an eclectic mix of events, a thriving education programme and a range of daytime activities.
The Royal Albert Hall offers a number of different tour opportunities for visitors to experience this extraordinary and iconic building and to learn about its colourful past, unique architecture and unparalleled entertainment history. With over 60,000 visitors joining our guides in 2017, and numbers set to increase further this year, tours are a vital part of the Hall’s business and its on-going commitment to ensuring the building is as open and accessible to the public as possible.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and professional tour guide, with a warm and welcoming approach to customer service and a passion for sharing the Royal Albert Hall’s extraordinary history.
Guides are responsible for engaging the public in the Hall’s unique story, conducting tours of the building and providing accurate and interesting information to varied audiences.
Excellent personal presentation, communication and customer service skills are essential. Previous tour guiding experience is desirable and fluency in another language in addition to excellent English would be an advantage.
The vacancy will have a minimum of 40 hours per month. The contract will be for an immediate start and for a fixed term period until October 2019, with the potential for extension after this time.
The successful candidate will need to be able to work subject to a roster, following a rotating pattern. Your working hours will be determined by this roster pattern, generally delivering 3 one-hour tours between the hours of 9.30am to 5.30pm on any day of the week, including weekends, public holidays and occasional evenings. On beginning the role you must be prepared to undertake intensive training and historical research along with ongoing learning and development throughout your time as Royal Albert Hall Tour Guide.
