Key responsibilities and accountabilities
Business Development and Proactive Sales
Lead Generation: Focus purely on new business opportunities, proactively identifying, pursuing and securing high-value clients and corporate accounts for events at BAFTA.
Market Research & Segmentation:
Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, potential clients, and growth opportunities within the events industry.
Client Prospecting: Develop and implement strategies to engage with prospective clients through networking, cold calling, attending industry events, and leveraging BAFTA’s brand reputation.
Proposal Development: Create compelling, customised proposals and presentations that effectively communicate the value of hosting events at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, tailored to the specific needs of each potential client.
Revenue Growth.
Sales Targets: Achieve and exceed individual sales targets, contributing to the overall revenue goals of the sales department of £6M+ in year 1 with the intention to grow this target year on year.
Contract Negotiation: Lead contract negotiations with new clients, ensuring mutually beneficial terms that maximise profitability while meeting client needs.
Pipeline Management: Maintain an up-to-date sales pipeline, tracking all leads, opportunities, and client interactions in the CRM system, and providing regular updates to the Head of Department.
Client Relationship Management
Client Onboarding: Ensure a smooth transition from prospect to client by managing the onboarding process, coordinating with the events team to deliver a seamless experience.
Relationship Building: Develop and nurture long-term relationships with key clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and fostering opportunities for repeat business and referrals.
Client Retention: Implement strategies to retain high-value clients and increase their lifetime value by continuously identifying and addressing their evolving needs and exploring multiyear deals.
Collaboration and Communication
- Internal Collaboration: Work closely with the wider sales, planning and operations teams to ensure that client expectations are met and exceeded, and that all events are delivered to the highest standard. This includes excellent organisation skills and the ability to follow process to ensure a seamless handover for clients.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Regularly engage with key stakeholders across BAFTA to align business development activities with broader organisational goals and strategies.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports to the Head of Sales on sales performance, market insights, and progress against targets. Contribute to sales meetings with updates on pipeline status and new leads.
Strategic Contribution
- Sales Strategy: Contribute to the development of the overall sales strategy, providing insights and recommendations based on market trends and client feedback.
- Innovation: Stay informed about industry trends and competitor activities and use this knowledge to suggest innovative approaches to business development and client engagement.
- Diary Management: Ensure revenue per space is maximised.
- Brand Ambassadorship: Represent BAFTA 195 Piccadilly at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities, acting as an ambassador for the brand and enhancing its market presence.
Ideally you will have:
- A winning mentality and ‘can do’ attitude
- Experience in business development or sales roles within the events industry, with a proven ability to generate and close high-value deals
- Deep understanding of the events industry, including trends, key players, and competitive landscape.
- Experience nurturing strong relationships
- A network of contacts within the corporate events sector
- Knowledge of Salesforce/Delphi – an advantage
Ideally you will be:
- Self-motivated, dynamic, target- driven and client-focused
- A strong and confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers
- A natural salesperson with first class negotiation and presentation abilities
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic and results-oriented, with a proactive and resilient approach
- Proficient in sales reporting, analytical and able to identify key metrics and statistics to present to senior management
- Willing to attend events and occasional out-of-hours work
