1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair at Somerset House

Monday, October 26, 2020 - 13:45

This month has been momentous for Somerset House, as they welcomed back 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair - the first of their annual cultural highlights to be opening since the coronavirus pandemic forced them to close their doors in March. The exhibition was a huge success and a sell-out show!

Over the past seven years 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair has established itself as a leading voice in the global discussion on contemporary African art. This year’s fair saw 37 international galleries from 17 countries, representing a selection of the best contemporary African artists.

The events team at Somerset House worked with the 1-54 team to implement a number of changes to ensure the exhibition was Covid secure, without changing the feel of the fair – which was as amazing as ever! The team at Somerset House are looking to take their learnings from this show to produce more successful Covid secure events over the coming months.
