The Admirable Crichton

October saw The Admirable Crichton project managing the Great Nordic Feast on the Southbank Centre Terrace. Working closely with the Southbank Centre events team, we arranged council permits to allow the building of tipis on the terrace which would each house open fire pits to cook the delicious food for the Nordic Feast. The AC chef team, led by Head Chef Andy Ritchie, was joined by 20 renowned chefs from every Nordic country, alongside some familiar names from the London restaurant scene. Over the course of 3 days, guests were treated to two sittings of breakfast, lunch and dinner with daily rotating menus in the cosiest of atmospheres. The passionate Nordic chefs cooked in full view over the fires and mingled with guests explaining their creations and discussing how each dish had been designed to showcase their regional and seasonal ingredients.

Eva Berntsson, our Swedish Event Manager, managed the event in collaboration with Fia Gulliksson, Founder of Food in Action, she explained, ‘It’s is all about natural, sustainable, no fuss foods that embraces the outdoors and cold weather; and of course happy animals, well reared and fully utilised. Plus we want to share our heritage and ethos with the people of the UK’.

The tipis were traditionally styled with long wooden tables dressed with bud vases of flowers and benches draped with reindeer skins. Guests toasted the chefs with Aquavit as night fell, making the London Eye a stunning backdrop.
