Banqueting House, one of six venues cared for by independent charity Historic Royal Palaces, last week (24th January) welcomed 80 guests to their venue showcase in collaboration with Pearl & Pear, an online event resource designed to inspire and inform those in the industry.
Following the recent launch of Banqueting House’s new daytime venue hire offer – which will see a full day closure for clients to hold events during the day on any Thursday, excluding school holidays – the event was held over the course of the afternoon and into the early evening.
On arrival, guests were treated to a ‘behind the scenes lunch’ in the vaulted Undercroft served by event caterer Rhubarb, where they enjoyed a selection of bowl food including Korean BBQ carrot with gochujang chili, fermented carrot, pickled pear and spicy sunflower seeds, as well as crispy fried duck egg with charred sprouting broccoli, dashi soup and soy marinated daikon, or ‘winter radish’. New-Orleans style jazz band The Blind Tigers provided a relaxed atmosphere throughout the lunch, courtesy of Sternberg Clarke who provided all entertainment on the day.
Guests were then led up to the stunning Main Hall for the first of four ‘Pearls of Wisdom’ workshops, held under the magnificent Rubens ceiling. The workshops included ‘Shooting for Instagram’ with Holly Clark, ‘Tablescaping and Chinese Floral Wrapping’ with Phillippa Craddock, ‘Creating an Impact with AV’ with White Light, and ‘Calligraphy and Event Branding’ with The Styled Writing Co.
The workshops were interspersed with a lively panel discussion, also in the Main Hall, on ‘how to win a pitch’, as well as a motivational speech by special guest, Jermyn Street designer Emma Willis.
After the workshops it was time to enjoy the after-party in the Undercroft with delicious drinks by Coates & Seely wines and canapes including Gyoza taco, flaked salted cod, tomato salsa and lime dill mayonnaise, while DJ duo Freight Trein DJs provided the music. Beautiful furniture including an Infinito bull nose (round) sofa and chandelle chairs were provided by Great Hire.
Jennifer Lockham, Head of Banqueting House, said: “It was wonderful to spend the day around so many industry figures and soak up all the fantastic knowledge of our expert suppliers. It was a great example of how our versatile spaces can now be utilised for daytime events such as conferences, lunches and product launches, which often require a number of different set-ups throughout the duration of the event
“As with any event held at Banqueting House, income raised from activities including venue hire is reinvested in conservation and education activities, to ensure the venue is well maintained and open for all to enjoy.”
