The beautiful Council Room at One Birdcage Walk, located in the heart of Westminster and directly beside St. James Park and the HM Treasury Building.
Situated on our second floor and accessed via the grand staircase or first electric lift installed in London. The Council Room has stunning Edwardian-style antique oak panelling, with an ornate ceiling, golden chandeliers and not only one, but two classic fireplaces! This space truly encapsulates London Westminster.

The Council Room is one of our most popular for formal board meetings, evening drinks receptions and dinners. You may even recognise this space from a variety of political filmings, including BBC Panorama, which has hosted multiple serving UK Prime Minister’s and important international dignitaries.
One unique fact is that the room used to be a pub back in 1870 called the Storeys Gate Tavern. One Birdcage Walk acquired the lease and added a new wing to the building, which included the beautiful Council room.
You can tell from the outside of our building still to this day, as the original pub side is Portland stone, unlike the rest of the building which is in “streaky bacon” Queen Anne Style.

The Council room is one of OBW’s larger event spaces and can be arranged in a variety of layouts from meetings for up to 36 Hollow Square, 60 for a standing reception, or seated dinners on round tables up to 48.
