The Victorian Walk Gallery at the Museum of London is a popular space for clients wanting to add a quirky and historical feel to their drinks reception. In this immersive gallery, the look and feel of London around 1900 is vividly evoked with a collection of recreated shops, workrooms and other premises from the high streets and back alleys of late Victorian London.
The shop fronts, fixtures and fittings are all original and come from buildings demolished in 1960s and 1970s. The Victorian Walk is the only gallery in the Museum of London that doesn’t feature information panels, largely due to the curators wanting to ensure the authenticity of the space.
Guests are invited to experience a taste of life in Victorian London by exploring the narrow streets and promenades while partaking in a little window shopping! With an abundance of shops to explore, all with original shop fronts, fixtures and fittings, guests can stop by the tailors, tobacconists, barbers, the chemist, milliners and pawn brokers. They can also stop by the local pub for a good old-fashioned Victorian knees up!
The gallery has capacity for up to 150 guests for a standing reception or it can be used in conjunction with other event spaces at the museum for larger events. The Victorian Walk is also a fantastic location for filming and photoshoots!
