With Earth Day 2022 coming up on 22 April, Blue Strawberry have announced that, as part of their Sustainability Strategy, they have become a Carbon Positive company and are offering clients the opportunity to offset the carbon generated by catering for their event.

Set out as one simple minimal cost per guest, with every penny going towards offsetting, the scheme balances all aspects of the business including transport, food miles, staff activity etc.
Blue Strawberry has confirmed their support for Terra Neutra’s Eco Act – which only contains projects that have either Gold Standard or VERRA certification (the highest grade of accreditation available in the voluntary carbon market).

Current projects include the Cardamom Rainforest Conservation Project in Cambodia (preventing the deforestation of a unique and biodiverse region – the habitat of many native species which is under significant pressure from illegal logging and poaching) and the Katinga Peatland Conservation Project in Indonesia (protecting 149,800 hectares in Kalimantan and providing a more sustainable source of income to local communities).
Minimising the impact on the planet has always been a big priority for Blue Strawberry Group. This development builds upon the Group’s wider Sustainability Strategy, which includes the Tree Planting Pledge, whereby the company works with The South Downs National Park Trust to plant a tree for every event they undertake.
CLEMENTINE LOWERY, SALES DIRECTOR, BLUE STRAWBERRY GROUP
“We are so excited to have launched this important initiative – a feeling that seems to be equally shared by our clients and the venue teams we have spoken to about it so far. As a privately-owned and independent company, we take our environmental responsibilities very seriously - many of us in the team are parents and so we know how vital it is for us all to take action against the looming climate catastrophe.
Having begun this project at the start of the year, every client so far has chosen to take up the opportunity to offset the carbon relating to their event. Not only is this offer proving to be popular, but for us, it’s a great feeling to know that we are working harder to be part of the solution rather than part of the problem.”

Tree Planting Pledge
They also plant a tree for every event confirmed across the entire Blue Strawberry Group, as part of their wider Sustainability Strategy. It is widely acknowledged that tree planting is a key activity in combating climate change – helping to restore precious eco-systems and reduce carbon in the atmosphere.
Their pledge began with the planting of a White Lilac ‘Madame Lemoine’ sapling, which lives on our roof terrace in Stockwell, to celebrate National Tree Week in 2019.
Despite the impact of the pandemic on the events and hospitality industry, they were thrilled to be able to plant 175 trees in 2021. They look forward to continuing this important initiative in 2022 and beyond.
