The Design Museum in London has been named the European Museum of the Year for 2018. Announced at an awards ceremony in Warsaw, Poland; the Design Museum was one of 40 finalists including the Science Museum in London, National Gallery of Ireland and the Helsinki City Museum. It is the first British winner of the award since 2013 and only the sixth British winner in the award’s history.
The museum was founded by Sir Terence Conran and is the world's leading museum devoted to contemporary design in every form from architecture and fashion to graphics, product and industrial design. Open in November 2016 in its spectacular new location on High Street Kensington, the Design Museum’s stunningly refurbished 1960s building offers multiple venues for a range of different events including drinks receptions, conferences, awards ceremonies, dinners, product launches and meetings.
