Giving Back in 2024

January 2024

When choosing a venue this year have you thought about how your event could give back so much more than just the event itself. For many of our member venues the revenue generated through their venue hire contributes to a vast array of conservation, development and naturing projects and activities, supporting them as charitable organisations. Your event could help world-class teaching take place within the performing arts, provide life-changing programmes for the next generation of talent, allow iconic London buildings continue to be places of heritage preservation, enabling community engagement and inclusivity for generations to come. For other member venues it gives them the opportunity to support charities and organisations outside of their venues that are working on pioneering research or contributing to grassroots activities.

Royal College of Music

Image credit: Royal College of Music

As a charity, income generated through venue hire at the Royal College of Music goes straight back into the College, contributing to world-class teaching and performing activities, allowing transformative investment in buildings and technology, and underpinning our founding principles of excellence, advocacy and access.

Alongside our spectacular spaces, the impact of your support is clearly seen in our extraordinarily talented students. These gifted musicians are the performers, composers and educators of the future, so why not include them in your event? From a solo harp for guest arrival, a string quartet during dinner, or a jazz group for your reception, our extraordinary students embody the impact of your giving back to the RCM and can add a unique element to your evening.

So, while you enjoy the stunning surroundings and exceptional music, you will know that by holding your event at the RCM, you have contributed to the future of music.

Frameless

Frameless has committed to raise £250k to support GOSH through visitor donations, staff fundraising and by every client hosting an event at Frameless donating £1 per guest which makes up part of the proposal sent to all enquiries.

In April 22 GOSH, publicly announced one of the most exciting developments in the history of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity – their intention to help build a new Children’s Cancer Centre at GOSH.

The hospital is already pushing the boundaries when it comes to paediatric cancer care and treatment, and pioneering research is underway that will give hope to more children and their families. However advances have outstripped GOSH’s current cancer care facilities, and the hospital needs a new home for breakthrough therapies. The Children’s Cancer Centre will be that home. With more space, a new hospital school and world-class research facilities, it will be a gateway for children to go on to better futures.

Twickenham Stadium

Twickenham Supports Good for Rugby

In 2018, the RFU launched Good for Rugby, a brand that underlines the relationship between meetings and match day hospitality at Twickenham Stadium, and investments made in grassroots rugby. Good for Rugby represents the social good that comes from holding events at Twickenham, as well as other initiatives that channel investments made in the stadium, into the game of rugby.

All events held at Twickenham contribute towards the development of rugby across the country. Investments include upgrading club facilities, providing more coaches, rewarding volunteers, building artificial grass pitches, and much more, ultimately supporting English rugby teams at all levels.

"One of the many reasons to come to Twickenham, be it for match day or non-match day events, is that by doing so you are making a contribution to grassroots rugby," commented Bill Sweeney, RFU Chief Executive Officer.

Learn more about how your next Twickenham event can support the growth and development of rugby, by visiting the Twickenham Stadium website here.

The Goldsmiths’ Centre

Grace, one of our Foundation students

The Goldsmiths’ Centre is the UK’s leading charity for jewellers, silversmiths and the precious metal industry. Since 2012, we have been encouraging and empowering young people to access exceptional training and knowledge through educational programmes, funding, and networks of support.

An example is Ben, one of the very first students to join our ground-breaking Foundation Programme. Ben went on to not only become a successful designer maker, but has also set up his business at the Goldsmiths’ Centre as one of our resident craftspeople. Such is his success, he has recently taken on another Foundation Programme student as an apprentice.

Celebrating 10 years of impact in 2022, this is proof of what we set out to do!

All our clients can be safe in the knowledge that every penny spent when holding an event with us goes straight back into funding the education of the young people we work with, furthering their careers.

RCP London Events

Did you know that the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) is a registered charity and all revenue from events hosted at its venue, RCP London Events, goes back into supporting its core mission to deliver high-quality patient care?

Giving back is a large part of our ethos at the RCP, and the commercial events team RCP London Events is no exception. We partner directly and indirectly with companies and suppliers that help various communities through charity work, like Luminary Bakery, a London-based social enterprise empowering marginalised women through employment. Purchasing their cakes for your event supports local women recovering from gender-based violence and multiple disadvantages.

Through our caterer, Company of Cooks, we also collaborate with Well Grounded, an enterprise helping Londoners by linking people facing social and economic disadvantage with the skills they need to access roles as Professional Baristas.

The Prince’s Trust is Company of Cooks’ nominated company charity and we support the Prince’s Trust Hospitality Programme, which provides catering and hospitality skills to young people disadvantaged by circumstance, economics or personal difficulties.

Finally, we work with Springboard, a charity helping young people into work within catering and hospitality. This collaboration includes fundraising and work placements, as well as promoting the industry to job seekers via the Ambassadors programme.
