On 30 October, you’ll have the chance to enter the Museum after-hours, starting with a drinks reception situated within the deep red walls of Soane’s Library-Dining Room, before exploring his curious collection by candlelight. Discover the ancient sarcophagus resting in the Crypt, and experience the artistry of ancient Rome’s catacombs, illuminated by staff sharing spotlight talks about the House and its stories.

Sir John Soane is known for his artful skill in design and decoration, and the basement of his house is no exception – within the Crypt resides an expansive collection of artefacts, themed around the Underworld. On 31st October Sir John Soane’s Museum expert guides will lead you through the Museum’s narrow corridors, and dig up the darker side of the collection, from stories of ancient Egyptian gods to the rise of Gothic literature. On this night of live storytelling, you’ll be taken to the space between worlds, surrounded by art, history, and atmosphere – it will be a night to remember.
