Hampton Court Palace

Thursday, September 14, 2017 - 20:15

Hampton Court Palace, one of six venues cared for by charity Historic Royal Palaces, will be the exceptional setting for Concours of Elegance from 2017 – 2021 inclusive following a new five-year agreement. The palace previously hosted Concours in 2014 with the event fast becoming a visitor-favourite.

Next year’s event, which takes place 31 August - 02 September 2018, will bring together even more exotic cars and luxury partners against the breath-taking backdrop of Hampton Court Palace.

The Concours of Elegance remains unique in the UK as the only automotive event to be held at a royal venue each year, having previously been hosted at Windsor Castle, St James’s Palace and the Palace of Holyroodhouse. In 2014 the Concours headed to Hampton Court Palace and returned again this year. The venue has quickly established itself as a favourite among visitors, offering the perfect setting for some of the world’s most incredible vehicles.

The event brings together the ‘best of the best’ of the UK’s car club scene, and this year the focal point was a new central stage in front of the palace. Over the course of the weekend, a parade of the main Concours and ‘Special Feature’ cars were driven through the palace grounds up to the Live Stage, to create a moving spectacle.

Liz Young, Head of Events at Historic Royal Palaces, says: “We are delighted to have signed a five-year agreement with Concours of Elegance to hold their annual event until 2021. The spectacular backdrop of Hampton Court Palace makes it the perfect setting to showcase some of the world’s most incredible vehicles. Both the 2014 and 2017 events were a huge success and we are incredibly excited to be working with the Concours of Elegance team to further grow and develop this fantastic event.”

James Brooks-Ward, Concours of Elegance Director, adds: “The beauty and the history of Hampton Court Palace have always been a perfect match for Concours of Elegance. Both in 2014 and again in 2017, the feedback we had from owners of the cars, from visitors and from our partners was absolutely faultless. That’s why signing this new  deal is such an incredibly important announcement for us – we now have a home for the next five years! Both myself and the whole Concours of Elegance team are very much looking forward to working closely with Historic Royal Palaces in the coming years to make this world-class event even more incredible.”

The Concours of Elegance event, as with all commercial activities at Hampton Court Palace, will help contribute to Historic Royal Palaces’ charitable cause as income raised will be reinvested in conservation, public access and educational activities to ensure the palace continues to be well maintained and open for all to enjoy.
