Earlier in July, Hayford & Rhodes were proud to supply the flowers for a glittering banquet to mark the final evening of a three-day visit to the UK by Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Spain.
Held at London’s Guildhall and hosted by the Lord Mayor and the City of London, and attended by Princess Anne, the banquet celebrated the final night of their three-day trip to the UK.
Hayford & Rhodes created a theme around Spain’s national flower, the red carnation.
As Spain’s national flower, the carnation is native to the southern Mediterranean, and red is said to represent the passion of the nation. Bringing a modern twist on the traditional use of the flower, Hayford & Rhodes used overall 1,750 red carnation stems for the event.
To represent the Spanish flag, over 1,200 flowers were used per flag design, each taking over three hours to create.
For the 36 table designs, yellow, orange and red Alstroemerias were used with orange Antirrhinums (snapdragons), Asclepia Beatrix, palms and other foliage. The overall effect was a rich and warm centrepiece to celebrate the first visit from the Spanish monarchs in over 30 years.
