'Jason and the Adventure of 254 Exhibition' at the Wellcome Collection

October 2024

One of the best things about Wellcome Collection is their programme of free to enter exhibitions.  Exploring the past, present and future of health, they have explored wide-ranging topics from Forensics, Death, Air and Joy.

Their latest exhibition ‘Jason and the Adventure of 254’, by Jason Wilsher-Mills is the artist’s largest and most personal commission to date. As described by Jason “the exhibition is about childhood, family, memory, but it’s also about how creativity works and where it comes from”.

The exhibition is inspired by 1980s TV, as well as anatomical drawings in Wellcome Collection, and uses a kaleidoscope of colours with a touch of magic realism. It is a celebration of family and creativity expressed through Wilsher-Mills’ characteristic tongue-in-cheek humour.

Everyone is invited to join this adventurous and joyful full exploration of the body, drawing on the artist’s experience of becoming disabled as a child.

Open until 12 January 2025.
