LSO St Luke’s to host The Nomad Cinema screening of classic experimental film

Thursday, August 22, 2019 - 11:30

On Friday 6 September, LSO St Luke’s, the iconic Grade I listed events space on London’s Old Street will play host to The Nomad Cinema’s screening of the 1929 classic film 'Man With A Movie Camera', celebrating 90 years since Dziga Vertov’s experimental classic came alive on the big screen.

Following the success of last year’s screening of The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, the Old Street Partnership – an alliance of key local businesses which have come together with the aim of promoting the Old Street area – has teamed up with the magnificent home of the London Symphony Orchestra’s music education programme, to bring guests a spectacular performance of  Vertov’s classic silent movie, complete with live score from musical sensations ‘The Cabinet of Living Cinema’. Performed above LSO St Luke’s crypt, once home to over 1,000 burials, guests will experience a truly unique screening fit for this masterpiece.

Christopher Cashman, Sales & Events Manager at LSO St Luke’s commented, “Our stunning interior provides a natural home for visually immersive events. The imposing architecture and pin-drop acoustics, along with atmospheric lighting makes for the perfect backdrop to any experiential event. We are proud to be partnering with the Old Street Partnership for this event and look forward to contributing to the success of this dynamic and vibrant area.”

Sarah Nelson, Programme Director at Old Street Partnership added, “The Partnership are delighted to be sponsoring the screening of such a cult classic at such an iconic landmark as LSO St Luke’s. This is a great example of local businesses working together with the arts to boost cultural activity locally and promote the local area of Old Street.”

The screening takes place between 7.30pm - 10pm with tickets available from £15, and is just one of the many incredible events LSO St Luke’s holds throughout the year. The venue is perfect for all types of events including meetings and conferences, banqueting, wedding receptions, Christmas parties, filming, private screenings and even outdoor gatherings.
