On 10th September, Moving Venue, London’s most experienced event caterer, celebrated a milestone 40th anniversary in grand style at the iconic Natural History Museum in partnership with headline sponsors Lavender Green, Wise Productions, and Sternberg Clarke. The event featured an exceptional line-up of performances, speeches, and culinary delights, all crafted to showcase Moving Venue’s unique offerings and celebrate their vision for the future.
As the first caterer to ever deliver an event at the Natural History Museum, it was only fitting that Moving Venue chose to host their 40th-anniversary celebration there. The theme, "Rebellious by Nature," not only reflected Moving Venue’s history of pushing boundaries but also honoured the Natural History Museum’s celebration of the natural world. The evening was a stunning blend of creativity, elegance, and a tribute to their four decades of innovation in the events industry.
The celebration began with guests entering the museum’s newly unveiled Garden before enjoying a reception in Fossil Way, where an array of exquisite canapés were served, including ‘Smoked Chalkstream® trout, apple, wasabi snow, caviar’ and ‘Pea, asparagus, truffle custard tart’. Guests were then led through the '40 Years of Moving Venue' exhibition which was erected post museum closure for this event and showcasing the caterer’s extensive portfolio and highlighting the breadth of their experience in the events industry.
The 'Rebellious by Nature' theme came to life through a series of immersive experiences, including a dramatic floral installation that challenged conventional design, and a menu that celebrated sustainability and innovative flavours. Guests were taken on a culinary journey, with each dish reflecting the evening’s theme of pushing boundaries and embracing creativity. Moving Venue’s commitment to excellence was evident in every bite, as the dishes were as visually striking as they were delicious.
With a 250 guests in attendance, these included representatives from Moving Venue’s venue portfolio, many of which are part of the Unique Venues of London portfolio, who were present to celebrate the occasion alongside Unique Venues of London themselves, as well as event agencies, corporate clients, and industry press.
“This celebration is a reflection of our journey over the past 40 years – a journey marked by innovation, creativity, and a passion for challenging the status quo,” said Chloe Jackson, Managing Director of Moving Venue. “The theme ‘Rebellious by Nature’ perfectly encapsulates our ethos as a company. We have always strived to defy expectations and deliver extraordinary experiences, and last night was a testament to that spirit.”
Entertainment throughout the evening kept guests captivated, with live performances from West End musicals Chicago and Cabaret, and a show-stopping performance by 80s star Carol Decker. As the evening progressed, the atmosphere became increasingly vibrant, with guests celebrating not just the legacy of Moving Venue but also its future. The Natural History Museum, with its rich history and deep connection to the natural world, provided the perfect backdrop for such an inspiring evening.
“Moving Venue’s 40th birthday party was more than just a celebration; it was a bold statement of the company’s intent to continue leading the way in the catering industry, embracing change, and pushing the boundaries of what is possible,” commented Robert Wetherell from The Natural History Museum. “We feel honoured to be a huge part of this journey.”
Moving Venue is incredibly proud to have delivered such an exceptional event and to have marked this milestone in such grand fashion. As they look to the future, the spirit of rebellion and innovation that has defined them for 40 years will continue to shape their journey ahead, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the London event catering industry for decades to come.
