With the help of their friends at The Vintner, the team at Moving Venue recently hosted ‘Last of the Summer Wine’, a food and wine pairing evening featuring delicious wines and tasty canapés. The pairing menu was designed by Simon Packer, Head Chef for Moving Venue, and Tom Gilbey, Founder and Director of The Vintner, and was a massive hit with clients.

The winning white wine pairing was a stunning Archangel Estate Pinot Gris 2014 from Central Otago, New Zealand, offered with grilled Mexican spiced tiger prawns in taco cones with pimento salsa. The red wine pairing winner was a delicious Pinot Noir 2014 from the James Bryant Hill Estate in California, USA. Simon created spiced duck cooked pink and served with a pineapple fritter and pineapple caviar.

Richard Beggs, Managing Director, Moving Venue said “Our ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ evening was designed to be fun, informal and interesting, and certainly not an occasion where our guests needed to be wine boffins. That said, and I’m not sure if it was more by luck than judgement, but too many guests seemed to identify wines in the blind tasting with an element of ease! It was a great evening – thank you Tom and Simon!”
