The National Gallery

Wednesday, December 13, 2017 - 14:15

The National Gallery, home to masterpieces including Van Gogh's Sunflowers and Turner's The Fighting Temeraire, welcomed their first bride and groom for a wedding reception in Summer 2017.

Celebrating with a joyful gathering of family and friends, the couple held a very special wedding 'breakfast' (this time it was actually breakfast, being hosted before public opening) in the stunning surroundings of the Gallery's glass-domed Barry Rooms.

The pair chose the National Gallery for their personal love of art and for the opportunity to have the paintings and beautiful spaces all to themselves as part of their wedding celebrations.

"Wedding receptions are brand new for us and we're really excited to see our first couples coming to celebrate here. I think what makes the Gallery especially attractive for wedding receptions and private parties is the location - your guests arrive directly from Trafalgar Square, you can have photos and drinks on the Portico looking out over Nelson's column and Big Ben, then after all the dinner and dancing it's also easy for everyone to travel home!" - Kate Rolfe, Head of Events.

In 2018, the Gallery is opening its doors for a limited time for more wedding receptions and private parties. As with all events at the Gallery, there are specially selected approved suppliers who you can work with to design every detail, from food and drink to flowers and photo booths.
