The Natural History Museum’s Venue Hire team has appointed innovative catering supplier, the-recipe as its chosen partner to deliver festive catering for 2018 Earth Hall Christmas packages.
Earth Hall, home to the most complete remaining Stegosaurus skeleton, can hold up to 400 guests to drink and dance under the stars and celestial map, with space for 200 guests to dine under the galaxy’s Earth sculpture making for an incredible seasonal setting. The all-inclusive packages available in Earth Hall, are delivered in partnership with the-recipe and are designed to take the stress out of organising Christmas parties.
Guests can enjoy the venue space from 7pm -12pm with the option to extend, arrival drinks, a choice of a three course dinner or canapés with bowl food from the approved the-recipe caterers, unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks throughout, full production including lighting and DJ, cloakroom and full event management.
John Stockton, managing director of the-recipe: “Having worked at the Natural History Museum for almost 30 years, we are very, very excited to be here for the 2018 Christmas season. We love working among the grandeur of the atmospheric Earth Hall and with the professional and friendly museum staff.
“As we regularly work at the NHM we're perfectly prepared to be offering our personalised menus to people celebrating Christmas with the NHM, without compromising on our food, drink or service. The various menus this year reflect the current catering trends including veganism, multi-culturalism and sustainability.
“We believe both our clients and the museum’s are conscious of their impact on the planet and want to make sure that their events are luxurious and enjoyable - but use sustainable resources. We have joined The Evening Standard’s #thelaststraw campaign and ensure there are no plastic straws at any of our events. Where picnic boxes and disposable cutlery is needed we use bamboo and wood.

“Our coffee is from Tate Coffee, a company run by the Willy Wonka of the coffee world, Thomas Haigh, at the back of Tate Britain. He has created the Gender Equality Project, ensuring the coffee beans are sourced from small farms often run by women in a bid to rebalance the inequality of land-ownership in countries like Honduras. This year, we hope guests have a morning after the night before moment discussing the memorable food from the-recipe, alongside the other highlights of their evening.”

This Christmas, the world-famous Hintze Hall home to Hope, a 25.2m blue whale skeleton, is available for dry hire for up to 650 guests for a sit-down dinner or drinks reception for up to 1,200. Guests can further engage with the array of fascinating specimens on show by enjoying arrival drinks in the captivating Fossil Way or Dinosaur Way galleries, before entering the grand Hintze Hall for the rest of the evening’s celebrations.
For a truly memorable experience for up to 3,000 people the Museum is also available for exclusive use. Guests can privately explore the many engaging exhibits each event space offers, or even utilise the Venue Hire teams’ list of experienced list accredited event suppliers to create different themed experiences throughout the venue spaces.
Robert Wetherell, Head of Venue Hire and Catering adds “We look forward to building on the success of bringing our festive packages in-house last year, and with the-recipe team on board we can’t wait to deliver clients a fully bespoke Christmas experience that keeps companies back year after year.

“We pride ourselves on creating world-class experiences for small gatherings of under 40 in our gorgeous galleries with private talks and tours available, through to opening up the Museum for exclusive use, encouraging parties of all sizes to engage with the Museum’s incredible collections. Guests are encouraged to combine a festive celebration with an early-evening private ice-skating session on the rink in our grounds.”
