Peyton Events and IWM London hosted a spectacular showcase event on Tuesday 23 September to celebrate the re-launch of this landmark London venue, recently transformed with a dramatic new atrium and roof terrace. The night was a party of two halves starting with a classic celebration in the atrium surrounded by a gigantic V2 rocket and a suspended spitfire plane and harrier jet. Music was provided by former Sade member Andrew Hale whilst Oliver Peyton (The Great British Menu judge) and Barry Smith (Assistant Director, Commercial, Business & Governance at IWM) welcomed over 200 guests to the exclusive occasion attended by the great and good from the events world.
Bespoke caterers Peyton Events served a variety of culinary delights including a selection of canapés and bowl foods such as:
- Scallop ceviche with samphire and pickled ginger
- Beetroot and goat curd doughnut
- Dorset crab with pea shoots and crème fraiche
- Braised ox cheek with mash and parsnip crisp
- Monkfish burger with chorizo jam
- Chicken liver parfait, sweetcorn pancake and Iberico popcorn
Following the speeches guests were invited to a secret soiree onin the new, dramatic cutting edge roof terrace designed by Foster + Partners. Great Hire provided contemporary furniture turning the versatile space into a refined cocktail lounge that would be perfect for a James Bond filmset. Sternberg Clark showcased sensational entertainment by Organic Jam who consist of a DJ playing and expertly mixing house music whilst musicians jam over the top. A vibrant fuchsia and orange floral scheme was designed by Nikki Tibbles from Wild at Heart consisting of gold and white urns beautifully adorned with dahlias, hydrangeas and blooms; whilst event production was supplied by Glo Productions who transformed the venue into a dramatic spectacle with colourful lighting and bespoke gobos.
This best in class showcase was celebrated in style with vintage Champagne from Baron Fuentes served in beautiful coupe glasses from Jones. A variety of classic cocktails including Negroni’s, Caiporinia, Margharitas and Vodka Gimlets were freshly prepared ion the contemporary roof terrace as well as mocktails such as the ‘Soho’ (agave syrup, pineapple and lemon juice served with fresh basil leaves and topped with ginger beer). To complete the night guests were treated to a range of delicious desserts including Orange blossom mousse with orange jelly and chocolate crumble as well as Pear and autumn berry crumble with crème Anglaise.
The IWM London boasts several stunning event spaces that guests were invited to peruse including the new atrium that can host gala dinners for up to 270 guests, IWM Ggalleries and exhibition spaces, the roof terrace, two stylish boardrooms complete with stunning photography and art, a conference room, cinema/theatre plus meeting rooms.
