The Power of Flowers – Lavender Green Flowers

Monday, April 4, 2022 - 12:15

As part of their ongoing mission to give back to the local community, over the past 18 months Lavender Green Flowers have been finding ways to reuse flowers and plants that come back to their warehouse in Windsor after their time on display at an event.

To date local charities such as The Baby Bank, The Windsor Boys School Boatclub, The Slough Foodbank, Thames Valley Air Ambulance and The DASH Charity have raised a total of just over £8,000 directly from their plant donations. They have also regularly donated flowers to dozens of local hospices, PTA’s and Beavers clubs who all have held flower arranging workshops.

They’ve dropped off bunches and bunches of flowers to their local police stations and Army barracks, brightening up the days of those who protect us. The local primary schools have built entire wildlife gardens from plants that they’ve donated, held sensory and science lessons using the flowers and created their own bunches of flowers for their mums this past Mother’s Day. The local secondary schools have used flowers in Biology lessons, and to reward teachers for all of their incredible online work during lockdown… and the list goes on!!

This means that YOUR flowers automatically go on to feed families living in extreme poverty, provide clothes and other essentials for vulnerable children, provide shelter for families fleeing domestic abuse, funded children’s sport programs and spread more joy than you could possibly imagine – All without any additional costs to clients.

They know that over the past 18 months at least 1000 local people have directly benefitted from their new, completely free of charge service. The ripple effects that they are hearing stories of are incredibly heart-warming, and the vast team of volunteers are regularly providing them with detailed feedback meaning they are able to pass this directly back to their clients post event.

The plan for the next year is to expand their reach even further, and hopefully be in a position to offer other local to Berkshire florists to join in with them.
