A record-breaking 2019 for Somerset House

Thursday, January 16, 2020 - 10:30

Somerset House, London’s working arts centre, has had a record breaking 2019 winter season.

Every year, Somerset House’s magnificent ice rink transforms the neoclassical courtyard into the perfect centrepiece for Christmas events taking place across the site. With its glorious 40ft Christmas tree, decorations and seasonal catering, the entire venue is an oasis of Christmas cheer.

As one client commented: “Our event was a real success and the staff have given me some incredible feedback on the venue, food & drink and ambience… commenting that this was our best Christmas Party to date… the whole evening was seamless, I can’t thank you enough.”

Following a 120% increase in the average size of Christmas events taking place at Somerset House in 2019 (compared to 2018), the East Wing is available for exclusive parties up to 350 guests. Accessed directly from the neo-classical Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, with beautiful high ceilings, grand windows and interlinking rooms it offers a unique Christmas party location in the heart of London.

Organisations looking to host smaller Christmas events can make use of the Portico Rooms or Seamen’s Hall, where bespoke event management and catering packages are also available alongside creative theming.

Working in partnership with on-site caterer Bryn Williams Events, as well as popular entertainment providers, the central London venue offers the complete package, giving organisers the opportunity to enhance their event with ice skating packages, including exclusive use of the rink.

Luci Sorrell, Business Development Manager of the Commercial Events team at Somerset House comments: “Our 2019 Christmas season was an incredible success with significant growth in guest numbers attending individual events. The feedback from attendees and clients has been extremely positive, with most expressing the desire to rebook for 2020, so we have ensured our packages are available as soon as possible. The East Wing offers a truly exclusive and exciting space for Christmas events.  When combined with the opportunity for guests to skate in the heart of London, alongside the food, drink and entertainment options, it creates the perfect Christmas party offer. Our dedicated team will be on hand to ensure all guests enjoy a celebration like no other.”
