London’s new Knowledge Quarter to drive more medical events business opportunities for The Royal College of Physicians
The launch of London’s Knowledge Quarter announced on Thursday 4th December by Chancellor George Osborne is set to drive new meetings and events opportunities for the Royal College of Physicians (RCP). The RCP, which is a founding member of the Knowledge Quarter, already hosts a range of medical events for its members in addition to external associations and pharmaceutical clients. The venue anticipates a higher volume of medical events and conferences being attracted to the capital and to its venue as a result of the new initiative.
Clive Ostler, General Manager at the RCP, comments: “The launch of the Knowledge Quarter marks a significant development for London, further positioning the capital as the go-to destination for medical learning and excellence. We are confident that this new development will naturally attract the interest of medical specialists around the globe and as a result stimulate interest in holding conferences and events at the heart of the Knowledge Quarter. As a leading medical events venue, we are excited about the opportunities this brings to our conference and events arm.”
The RCP hosts medical congresses for national and international associations throughout the year, with medical and pharma business accounting for 57% of bookings at the venue thus far in 2014.
The Knowledge Quarter (KQ) is a growing partnership of 35 academic, cultural, research, scientific and media organisations based in Kings Cross, Euston and Bloomsbury in London. KQ was launched by the Chancellor, George Osborne on Thursday 4th December at the British Library in London. The aim of the Knowledge Quarter is to make the outstanding facilities, collections and expertise of its members understood, available and used as widely as possible for the benefit of researchers, creative people, students and the local community.
