The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) today unveils its newly refurbished Osler Room following an interior design overhaul to enhance the space ahead of the RCP’s 500th anniversary year in 2018.
The Osler Room has the capacity to host up to 300 guests for receptions, dinners and events and is the largest banqueting space in the building. The award-winning venue selected interior designer Wendy Purser to create a design in keeping with the prestige of the venue and its importance as a grade 1 listed modernist building. The upgrades had to meet the College’s strict heritage and conservation policies, with the work undertaken enhancing and complementing key existing features and elements within the room. These new features include: a bespoke Wilton carpet which uses colours to enhance the existing space and mirror the other areas in the building; a reflective wall covering which bounces light into the space, reducing the need for excessive lighting; new curtains with a soft shimmer border that subtly reflects light onto the large hydraulic wall painted in subtle gold; and pewter clad dividers.
The venue has also installed a hearing aid induction loop to make the space accessible for everyone.
Natacha Allen, Head of Venue Sales & Marketing at the RCP, comments: “We are thrilled to finally unveil our updated Osler Room following an intensive refurbishment programme. The key enhancements that have been made have not only modernised the room but reflect the prestige of the RCP as we look to celebrate our 500th anniversary in the New Year.
To celebrate the reopening of the Osler Room, the RCP will be offering free room hire for all new reception and dining bookings made before January 2018.
