On Thursday 22nd March, the Royal Institute of Architects (RIBA) held its highly anticipated wedding showcase. Brides, grooms, planners and bookers attended the historic 66 Portland Place for an afternoon exploring what the elegant Art Deco venue and some of its preferred suppliers has to offer.
Attendees were taken on a tour of RIBA’s Gallery (where wedding ceremonies are usually held), Aston Webb room where more intimate wedding breakfasts take place and culminated in the impressive Florence Hall and terrace which is most popular for wedding receptions of up to 250 guests.
Once in the Florence Hall, guests were treated to delicious canapes from in-house caterers Harbour & Jones, from cumin lamb with compressed cucumber mint gel to raspberry rose choux bites. Entertainment was provided by Sternberg Clarke – ranging from a classical pianist to acoustic trio, Wandering Hands.
Luxury cake specialists, GC Couture, provided three show-stopping cakes which adorned the centre of the space and handed out sumptuous samples of some of its most popular flavours. Finally, Love Blooms provided the beautiful floristry including the stunning table centres and Megabooth constructed two flower walls, providing attendees with the perfect photo opportunity.
Moya Maxwell, Director of Venues at RIBA, comments: “This was our first wedding showcase in many years so it was a delight to open our doors to couples, their families and wedding professionals in order for them to see how our venue could make a special day all the more memorable.
“The RIBA team loves hosting weddings, both large and small, all year round and we cannot wait to welcome even more couples to 66 Portland Place in the months to come
