Santas taught how to make Christmas safe at Southwark Cathedral

Monday, November 9, 2020 - 14:45

As traditional as mince pies, Christmas crackers and snowballs, Santa School descended on Southwark Cathedral to great fanfare. The training session was run by the Ministry of Fun and claims to be the only professional Santa training school in Britain. Grotto layout, social distancing, queue management, temperature checks and use of masks were all on the agenda for the first to time to ensure the Santa’s were equipped on how to bring safe festive fun in 2020.

The Cathedral has worked with the Ministry for several years and was delighted to welcome them back as a  Covid secure booking, delivered in accordance with the Visit Britain ‘Good to go’ Accreditation and on site risk assessments. All Santa’s were socially distanced throughout the training, equipped with matching face coverings and merrily followed the Cathedral one way system throughout their stay.

James Lovell, director of the Ministry of Fun Santa School, said:

“You can’t have Christmas without Santa!

“Now more than ever, everyone needs a bit of magic in their life – and that’s what the great man can still bring us all with some special measures in place to allow social distancing.”
