Somerset House launches Navy Board Room packages

Friday, June 1, 2018 - 10:45

A set of 18th Century rooms which were once home to the Navy Board for overseeing British Naval affairs can now be hired for the first time as a day delegate rate package at Somerset House. London’s leading centre for contemporary culture has launched new Navy Board Rooms packages in response to demand for smaller conferences of up to 60 people.

Accessed via the breathtaking Nelson Stair, the three flexible rooms can be used for a variety of purposes and are flooded with natural light.  With a capacity of 60 theatre style, these event spaces offer guests spectacular views across the River Thames. Within the room layout, there is also flexibility for catering and breakout spaces.

The catering for the new DDR packages will be provided by onsite caterer Bryn Williams Events, who has devised three menu categories with an emphasis on sustainability, seasonality and provenance.  Conference and meeting planners can choose between a luxury sandwich menu, fork buffet or canape and bowl food, all for up to 60 delegates.

As part of the package, one of Somerset House’s preferred AV and production suppliers, Broadsword, will provide the very latest AV equipment and ensure everything is set up in time for delegates’ arrival.

Guests using the atmospheric Navy Board Rooms who want to delve into the venue’s history a little deeper, can also take advantage of specially arranged historical tours or tickets to an exhibition which can provide something special to the DDR packages.

The Navy Board Rooms package includes hire of the main conference room from 8am to 4.30pm; breakout spaces; chairs, lectern and stage; top-of-the-range AV equipment including 65” LCD screen, laptop and PA system; cloakroom; three catering choices and a dedicated AV technician. Also included within the package will be a dedicated Event Planner who can take care of every detail required.

Stephanie Bevan-Moss, Co-Head of Corporate Events at Somerset House, comments: “Following on from the success of our DDR packages introduced last year in the Portico Rooms for conferences of up to 100, we wanted to introduce something special but affordable for those wishing to organise smaller meetings of up to 60 people, in an inspirational setting.”

“Working with our suppliers, Broadsword and Bryn Williams Events, we wanted to ensure that these packages offer not only great value for money but also include everything that a conference and meeting organiser needs for a successful day, whatever the size of event.”
