Southbank Centre to attend IMEX Las Vegas for the first time

Wednesday, August 14, 2019 - 15:00

The commercial events team at Southbank Centre, a world-class arts centre in central London positioned by the river Thames with a variety of spaces available for hire, will be representing the organisation at IMEX Vegas for the first time from 10 - 12 September 2019. They will be at the London stand B3032.

Showcasing fantastic views across London, the buildings at Southbank Centre - Royal Festival Hall, Hayward Gallery, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Purcell Room - offer commercial events the iconic backdrop of the South Bank cultural quarter with a brutalist architectural backdrop. Built between 1951 and 1968, the Centre offers three world-class auditoria and a further six spaces for hire with capacities from 20 to 2,500 people.

The Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room and Hayward Gallery buildings were closed for two years and reopened in April 2018 following an award-winning refurbishment project. The reopening of these historic buildings, helped generate a 74% increase of £1 million for commercial events in the 2018/19 financial year.

Southbank Centre’s public programme has hosted some of the world’s greatest artists and thinkers, including Michelle Obama, Tom Hanks, Olivia Colman and David Bowie and have warranted a visit from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to see the Nelson Mandela exhibition.

Clients have marvelled at the fantastic location and have enjoyed personal memories within the buildings. The public programme includes world-class classical music concerts, festivals including Nile 1 Rogers’ Meltdown, the London premiere of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Fashion Freak Show, London Literature Festival, WOW - Women of the World Festival and Imagine Children’s Festival.

Commercial events held at Southbank Centre gain a unique pre-eminence by being held in our venues. Offering excellent transport links, there is the option of riverboat transport, and the buildings are easily accessible from three major train stations, London underground and bus services.

Our current clients return to us year on year, and do not forget our unique river view site. Ali Gannage-Stewart, Head of Commercial Events said, “The heritage of these buildings makes every event utterly unforgettable. We offer clients the very best acoustics, design and architecture to work with in our unbeatable central London location. Venue hire is a vital part of Southbank Centre’s site-wide offering and supports the programming and future of these historic spaces. We’re looking forward to working with new clients from all over the world and hope to make these fantastic venues home for their events.”

Meet the team: Ella Lawrence and Nicola Langley at the London stand B3032 during IMEX Vegas (10 - 12 September. The team look forward to bringing commercial events to these constantly developing and dynamic venues, which offer the best views in London.
