Inspired by the scenes from one of William Shakespeare’s best-loved plays, Swan at Shakespeare's Globe recently hosted its popular ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ themed event in the Underglobe.
A sight to behold, and clients regularly opt for this stunning package for special dinners and events.
Situated on London’s Bankside, directly beneath the iconic Globe theatre, the Underglobe is transformed into an ethereal and otherworldly forest. Guests are greeted at the private riverside entrance by stilt-walkers in full costume before entering the Underglobe. A draped corridor leads to the mezzanine which is filled with realistic faux birch trees, plants, twinkling lights and low-level lanterns. The sweeping staircase is draped with garlands of foliage and trailing ivy.
Exquisite styling sees oak-tree centrepieces adorned with fairy lights and floating tea lights, whilst large glass domes house sumptuous arrangements of florals, mushrooms and moss, and candelabras are laden with seasonal blooms and overflowing foliage. Round slate placemats decorated with hand-written quotes from the play help to set the scene.
The in-house AV sees the space magically lit with midnight blues and gentle pinks, whilst a shimmering haze creates a surreal mist in the space. Moving gobos and colourful uplighters around the venues life-sized model oak tree complete the picture.
Working with some of the best suppliers in the business, Swan's themed events can be enhanced with styled aerial artists, magicians, roaming actors and glitter artists.
