The Tower Remembers

April 2025

The Tower of London will feature a moving ceramic poppy installation from May 6 to November 11, 2025. This display will include nearly 30,000 poppies that were originally created for the 2014 installation, ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red,’ commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.

The specially designed installation will evoke the image of a 'wound' at the center of the Tower, which itself was damaged during the Blitz. Poppies will cascade across the lawn in front of the historic White Tower, forming a crater shape with rippling lines extending outward.

Located within the Tower’s walls, this installation will provide powerful imagery that highlights the sorrow of war and the enduring effects of conflict. It will serve as a communal space for visitors to remember and reflect on the collective sacrifices made by so many during this significant anniversary year.
