London’s illustrious landmark, Tower Bridge has recently hosted an event celebrating the tenth anniversary of NFL games in the capital.
The event, organised by the Mayor of London’s official promotional agency London & Partners, was hosted in Tower Bridge’s stunning glass-floored Walkways, a dizzying 42 metres above the Thames and tasked in-house catering and venue management team, Seasoned with creating both an immersive event setup and a locally sourced, bespoke menu for the 60 high profile guests.
Commenting on the venue, Iain Edmondson from London & Partners said: “We chose Tower Bridge because it is such a world-famous landmark and we knew it would be a very special and rare experience for our international guests to enjoy.”
The formal dinner, a welcoming of the NFL to London, was a key event in marking the tenth anniversary of the NFL returning to London before the fourth game of the year, hosted at the home of English rugby, Twickenham Stadium.
The event saw esteemed members of local, city and national government in attendance including Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport alongside the Deputy Mayor for Business and Chair of London & Partners as well as valued guests from the NFL including the Commissioner, Team owners and NFL Alumni from both teams.
The dinner was key in demonstrating the keen commitment London has in aiding the American sports organisation in growing throughout both the capital and the United Kingdom with all four of the games occupying both of London’s largest stadiums, Wembley and Twickenham Stadium. America’s number one sport has seen its UK fan base multiply over the past decade. The NFL now airs twice a week on BBC, along with more than 100 lives games on Sky Sports, while participation is booming across all age groups around the country.
