Unique By Design: Royal College of Music

April 2026

Since its foundation, performance has been central to the Royal College of Music. From the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall to the Performance Hall, these spectacular venues are built to be not only acoustically ideal, but also visually striking. The recent £40 million redevelopment seamlessly combines technological and creative innovation with the heritage of the beautiful 1890s Blomfield building.

The Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall retains original nineteenth century features, but down two flights of stairs, you can immerse yourself in the Performance Studio, with the technological capability of accurately re-creating the acoustics of famous concert halls or churches; or head to the Britten Theatre, named after renowned composer and RCM alumnus, Benjamin Britten.

As the No. 1 institution for Music and Performing Arts in the UK and Europe, our spaces integrate music into every aspect of the day. Not only does this allow our exceptionally talented students to thrive, but we can facilitate extraordinary events and activities, with the unique opportunity to include exceptional performances by some of the most talented young musicians.

Every hire of our historic and modern spaces alike directly supports our students, as all venue hire income is reinvested into the College.
