Wellcome Collection, London’s destination for the incurably curious, has revealed two new spaces for private hire; the Reading Room and The Atrium will both be available following growing demand for unique event backdrops.
Recognised for hosting high profile award ceremonies, charity fundraisers and conferences from both the corporate and association markets, the new spaces will be an addition to the venue’s portfolio of seven rooms already available for events.
Located on level two, the Reading Room is an innovative hybrid of gallery, library and events areas designed to encourage conversation and indulge the imagination. With over 1000 books and 100 objects – including contemporary sculptures, paintings, medical artefacts and manuscripts – the room provides a truly unique and thought provoking backdrop for any special occasion. The Reading Room can host up to 160 guests for a variety of events including book launches and post-conference drink receptions. It also hosts the annual Wellcome Book Prize.
The Atrium, located on the ground floor, is a light contemporary space that provides an easy canvas on which to create the perfect event. With its feature staircase, lighting cloud and hanging Anthony Gormley sculpture along with its modern interior, the Atrium can host evening events for up to 400 people. The Atrium has previously hosted a variety of internal events such as the Wellcome Trust Science Writers and Wellcome Trust Screenwriting Prize with the British Film Institute.
Daniel Caleb, Event Spaces Manager at Wellcome Collection, comments: “We are thrilled to be expanding our offering with two new exciting spaces for hire, which means we can continue to offer innovative exhibits to engage delegates and a more versatile area for larger events. We have already seen a lot of interest in the Reading Room and Atrium from both corporate and private clients wanting to host events such as product launches, networking events and  post event drinks receptions. Our aim is to help people create memorable and inspiring experiences and we are able to do just that with our diverse range of rooms for hire.”
