Westminster Abbey is one of the world’s greatest examples of medieval Gothic design, a building that has shaped and reflected the life of the nation for more than a thousand years.

Its soaring vaulted ceilings, intricate stone carvings and stained-glass windows create an atmosphere both majestic and contemplative – a space designed to inspire.

Every part of the Abbey has its own story. The Lady Chapel, commissioned by Henry VII, is a jewel of late medieval architecture, famous for its delicate fan vaulting. The Cloisters, once the heart of monastic life, still invite visitors to pause and reflect, while Poets’ Corner is a unique celebration of literature within sacred walls.

At the west end of the Nave lies the Grave of the Unknown Warrior, a powerful memorial that combines design, symbolism and national memory.

High above the Abbey floor, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries offer another extraordinary perspective. Set in the 13th-century triforium, this space was hidden from the public for centuries. Now, visitors can admire some of the Abbey’s greatest treasures while looking out across views once described by John Betjeman as “the best in Europe.”
Unique by design, Westminster Abbey is not only an architectural masterpiece but also a living place where history, art, worship and memory are held together in one remarkable space.
