White light wins AV Technology Award

Wednesday, July 3, 2019 - 16:15

Approved UVL supplier White Light has won the AV Technology Award for Visitor Attraction Project of the Year following its work at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi. With six immersive lands spread over 1.65 million square feet, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi is the third theme park to open on Yas Island and is the world’s first-ever Warner Bros. branded indoor theme park. Following its work on other global outdoor attractions, White Light (WL) provided the show and themed lighting equipment throughout the entire park. This involved sourcing over 16,000 individual lighting features.

WL's Managing Director Bryan Raven comments, "We are delighted to have been recognised for our work on such an ambitious and unique project. Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi was the first theme park of its kind and to play an integral role in bringing it to life shows just what we are able to deliver as a company".

Due to the vast quantity of equipment, along with the theme park being built in the middle of a desert, WL had to devise a bespoke system to ensure everything arrived on time and was prepped as per each individual area of Warner Bros. World. WL's Special Projects Director Simon Needle explains, “Once Thinkwell (the lighting designers) told us which the fixtures they required, these were ordered in mass bulk – meaning we had 16 sea containers of kit! These were then broken down at our London base, so they could be palletised and prepped in order for them to be ready-to-use as soon as they arrived in Abu Dhabi.”

The theme park officially opened on July 25th 2018.
