The world-renowned Sir John Soane’s Museum is one of the most iconic and influential buildings in the history of architecture. Created by Sir John Soane, one of Britain’s greatest architects, it was his home as well as his private Museum.
Soane’s collections are still arranged today as they were at the time of his death in 1837. From the moment guest’s step through the door, they are transported back in time to the Regency era.
Sir John Soane’s atmospheric Library-Dining Room is the perfect setting for exclusive and intimate dinners. Your guests will dine in a unique Regency interior, surrounded by Soane’s collection of books, Ancient Greek vases, and paintings.
Pre-dinner drinks can be served in the elegant first floor Drawing Rooms, before an expert member of Museum staff will lead guests on a candlelit tour of some of the Museum’s most spectacular spaces.
On the tour, guests will discover the Dome area, where you’ll see architectural fragments, casts, and the 3,000 year-old sarcophagus of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, before visiting the famous Picture Room. With paintings by Canaletto, Hogarth and Turner, the walls swing open – to reveal dozens more paintings hidden beyond.
