Blue Strawberry Group has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining the prestigious Planet Mark Certification. The certification highlights Blue Strawberry Group's commitment to environmental sustainability, responsible business practices, and reducing its carbon footprint.
Planet Mark is a leading sustainability certification that empowers businesses and organisations to make measurable progress in environmental and social performance. The certification is based on a rigorous assessment of carbon emissions, water use, waste management, and stakeholder engagement. Businesses that earn the Planet Mark Certification demonstrate dedication to minimising environmental impact and contributing positively to society.
In a remarkable achievement, Blue Strawberry Group announced that it offset a staggering 307.96% more CO2 than its carbon footprint in the year 2022. This feat was accomplished through a combination of strategic partnerships and initiatives aimed at carbon offsetting.
During the first three quarters of 2022, the company successfully offset its carbon footprint through Terra Neutra’s Eco Act, focusing on projects like the Cardamom Rainforest Conservation Project and the Katingan Peatland Conservation Project. For the fourth quarter of 2022, Blue Strawberry Group utilised Gold Standard, an organisation affiliated with Planet Mark, to offset its carbon emissions. This support extended to the Cambodia National Biodigester Programme, a sustainable initiative addressing climate change and rural poverty.
Aside from its outstanding carbon offsetting achievements, Blue Strawberry Group has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability through various initiatives and partnerships. In collaboration with waste management experts Recorra, the company responsibly recycled 55,340 kg of waste, conserving 38,750 kg of CO2, saving 98 trees, and providing 156 meals for vulnerable individuals.
Blue Strawberry Group also focuses on sustainable ingredient sourcing, including responsibly farmed fish, free-range chicken, and produce from local, sustainable farms. Blue Strawberry Group's engagement with local charities such as Healthy Living Platform exemplifies its dedication to community support, as seen through initiatives which saw staff members cooking, preparing and serving hot meals in a 'warm hub' in February 2023.

Furthermore, the partnership with Nordoff Robbins, a UK-based music therapy charity, highlights Blue Strawberry's involvement in well-being initiatives. The collaboration with The Tree Council showcases the group's hands-on approach to sustainability, with their team planting and protecting trees in the UK to make a positive environmental impact.

Recognising the challenges posed by single-use plastics and excessive packaging materials, Blue Strawberry Group has adopted sustainable packaging solutions throughout its operations. Through its sister brand Flourish, the company utilises Vegware utensils and biodegradable food packaging made from plant-based materials.
Blue Strawberry Group's attainment of the Planet Mark Certification and its remarkable carbon offset achievements underscore its position as a leader in sustainability within the catering and hospitality industry. Through responsible practices and embracing innovative partnerships, the company sets a positive example for others to follow in the journey towards a more sustainable future.
