Did you know? The Durham Street Auditorium is built on one of the last stretches of 18th century cobbled roadway in London

Monday, January 15, 2024 - 12:15

The Durham Street Auditorium at RSA House was built on the last remaining stretch of 18th century cobbled Victorian roadway, which was part of a tunnel beneath the House leading down to the Thames.

Guests today can tread in the footsteps of the greats as they walk the pavements worn with age to be inspired in this unique setting. You can also brand the Durham Street entrance, and completely personalise the reception for your events!

In the mid-19th century horses were used to drag coal wagons up this steep passage to the Strand and some vaults in RSA House were used as stables.

These industrial feeling exposed brick vaults are original to the townhouse, and featured as wharf’s, storage facilities, wine cellars, and even accommodate for cattle over the years, now they are the perfect party or exhibition venue with plenty of options to personalise!
