Did you know? One Birdcage Walk gets a front row seat to all the military rehearsals for Royal events

Tuesday, June 13, 2023 - 11:15

One Birdcage Walk is situated right on the parade route and gets treated to the incredible military bands as they march down Horse Guards Parade before turning onto Birdcage Walk and back again!

Ceremonial duties are an important part of British military history and tradition. All those taking part are highly trained soldiers who are involved in military operations worldwide and provide ceremonial and operational support for the Crown.

Military parades traditionally accompany many Royal events including Weddings, Coronations, Birthdays and State visits, as well as the State Opening of Parliament each year. One Birdcage Walk is so lucky to get a sneak peek of the festivities which are always entertaining and a nice way to break up the workday!

Military bands and regiments rehearse their set list and formations marching down Birdcage Walk throughout the year but are especially active in the spring where we have Trooping the Colour, The King’s Birthday parade and Beating the Retreat all taking place in June and July.

Don’t worry if you have an event at One Birdcage Walk, however. The rehearsals don’t last long and are always a great show for your guests!
