Euphonica brings the noise to the annual Design Museum celebration

Wednesday, December 6, 2023 - 15:15

Aligned with the launch of The Design Museum’s much anticipated new exhibition, Skateboard, Euphonica was appointed to immerse guests into skating culture. Drawing on themes of shared experience and belonging, Euphonica brought together a group of dancers and skateboarders, many of whom met at local London skate parks during lockdown.

Skate Jam was born, conceptualised by Euphonica’s Dan Savidge and dancer Rory Bell, who also choreographed the performance. Design Museum’s Livia Puggini provided the initial brief, and together they developed a bespoke, dynamic skateboard and dance routine, utilising all floors of the Design Museum. The skaters played with shapes to contrast the dramatic lines and bold modern architecture of the museum. Together they demonstrated the skill and precision inherent in skateboarding, which is now widely regarded as a contemporary art form.

The performance culminated on the mezzanine and even amongst guests on the ground floor, soundtracked by a bespoke piece, curated and mixed by Dan. The tone was set before and after the show by London Hip Hop legend DJP. DJP found world fame when he joined the Twitch community during lockdown, an online music and video portal where he could share his DJ sets and re edits with a global audience from his own home.

Through the performance Euphonica further cemented their reputation as one of London’s most credible entertainment agencies. For years one of London's top providers of musicians and DJs, but they've now broadened their horizons to include a more diverse, curated roster of talented entertainers.
