The Florence Hall is one of our largest and most popular spaces at RIBA, 66 Portland Place, with capacity for up to 180 guests for a drinks reception post-Covid. The room’s open design features high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, creating an oasis of light and space, and boasts a stylish Art Deco backdrop.
The space celebrates the traditions and progress of the institute, immersing guests in both architectural heritage and the future of design with subtle nods throughout. For example, on the ceiling of the Florence Hall you’ll find panels with scenes of architecture through the ages.
The wooden Dominion screen is carved to the designs of Dennis Dunlop, an English sculptor who uses Art Deco form and breath-taking attention to detail to represent famous architects, tools from the architectural and construction industries and flora and fauna of the Dominions of Canada, Australia, India, South Africa and New Zealand.
Designed as the venue’s principal entertaining space, the Florence Hall offers organisers a chic, mid-century backdrop for a range of events, providing a sense of grandeur, flexibility and exclusivity. The light-filled space also opens onto a leafy central London roof terrace, allowing guests to enjoy a tranquil urban oasis – a rarity in central London.
