By Word of Mouth Creates a Stunning Night at The Musicals at the Young V&A

December 2025

With so many fantastic musicals dominating London’s theatre scene, By Word of Mouth was thrilled to be asked to create an early holiday season party with the theme of musical theatre running throughout.

UVL member the Young V&A was the setting for a night of song, dance and dining that demonstrated the exceptional creativity and skill of By Word of Mouth’s planning, culinary and creative teams.

From the edelweiss dotted hills of Austria to the pyramids of Egypt, pre-dinner canapes were presented on charmingly detailed trays that demonstrated the artistic skills of By Word of Mouth’s creative team.

A grand reveal allowed guests to experience the spectacular McLain Hall in all its glory, beautifully set for dinner and dramatically lit, creating a tangible sense of excitement for what was to come.

A spectacular musical theatre performance, delivered by West End stars, preceded each course which was themed to each show. Starting with The Lion King, guests enjoyed a berbere spiced confit chicken lollipop with pickled lion’s mane mushroom and purple potato aioli. Evita almost stole the show, singing Don’t Cry for Me, Argentina from the spectacular, statement staircase that dominates the far end of the McLain Hall. To follow this unforgettable moment, By Word of Mouth immersed guests in south American tradition, serving an Argentinian style fillet of beef with a tangy chimichurri.

The tempo was dialled up for pudding as Mamma Mia took to the floor and our pastry team combined Greek yoghurt, sugared filo and baklava ice cream in a seductive pudding that transported guests to the sun-soaked Greek islands.

With the songs of Tina Turner ramping up the energy even more, golden cocktails flowed and guests hit the dance floor.

This was an evening demonstrating musical talent, culinary innovation and colourful spectacle, held against a truly stunning backdrop.
